To the Charlatan in my head…

There’s a Charlatan who’s taken up residence in my brain.  She’s not welcome and was not invited. She is a squatter and won’t leave. This message is to her…

I see you Slick. You can slink around all you want with your sly sneaky arrogance spewing lies that you know what’s best for me.    You need to go.  I don’t recall ever inviting you in but you’re here just the same. You slinked your way in and now you’ve made yourself so at home and so comfortable that you won’t leave of your own volition.  So I have to make you leave.  I need to evict you but you’ve claimed your stake so vehemently that it’s going to take a lot of work to get rid of you once and for all.   In the meantime I will put a fence around you.  I’ve got an eye on you and I can see you scheming.   Just know that I see you and I’m coming for you.

You taunt me endlessly. A glass (or 5) would shut you up but I won’t do that. I will tolerate you and recognize you for the fraud that you are.  A wolf in sheep’s clothing treating me like  little red riding hood.   Some days I’m quick to cut the legs out from under you.  Other days I struggle with being taken in by your damned charms and allure.   You’re the Kaa to my Mowgli.  You attempt to hypnotize me in order to devour me.  To devour my essence and soul.  You aim to control my free will and my soul.   And by god you are damned good at what you do.  But I will not fall for it again.
